3/23: Egg Whites, Turkey Bacon, Steel Cut Oats, Coffee with Cream

This morning I am back to counting calories. I decided to eat a bigger breakfast to help keep me from having as many snacks throughout the day (or at least high calorie ones). I had 1/4 cup egg whites (50 calories), 2 pieces turkey bacon (60 calories), 3/4 cup steel cut oats with 1-1/2 tsp. agave nectar and 1/8 cup 2% milk (approx. 220 calories), and of course coffee with cream (42 calories).

This is a spendy but wonderful kitchen appliance that we discovered after having a foreign exchange student from South Korea. Since then rice is a staple at our household and this will keep your rice as fresh on the third day as it is on the first. It does not burn, dry out or get cold. This is how we make our steel cut oats as well. The timer feature allows you to set a time for your rice or porridge to begin cooking which allows us to wake up to hot cereal in the morning.
